Two Weeks...

We can not believe it has already been two weeks since this miracle roller coaster began. For those of you who are fuzzy on the events we thought we would bring you up to speed...

In the beginning of October Scott and I traveled to Hawaii on vacation. Two days before leaving for that trip we spent an afternoon with an adoption agency learning about adoption and asking the hard questions. We left our meeting feeling overwhelmed and emotional but most of all concrete in our decision that this was our next step and we couldn't wait to start the process. We started to share with family and friends about our decision when we returned from Hawaii and letting everyone know that we are sure we would have "our baby" by Christmas 2009. :)

On Wednesday, October 29th we were awakened by a phone call. This isn't saying that the call was in the middle of the night...it was awakening because it came so quickly after making our decision to move forward with this process. My aunt Tammy was calling to ask if we had decided about adoption yet? And if so, would we be interested in a baby from West Virginia?
A baby from West Virginia...well sure, we don't care how far we have to travel! The only catch...this baby is due November 19th!

Sidebar...now Scott and I are God fearing people. We believe that everything happens for a reason and that God works MIRACLES in His own good time. We have struggled with infertility for 7 years and through that heartbreak and frustration we have often asked "why" but never the less we always believed God has a plan for us and our family. I am starting to cry now just thinking about the pain we went through and the wonderful friends we have had that have supported our every heartbreak throughout that process. Even through the horrible times we have been deeply blessed.

So, November 19th? No problem! We will finish the construction on our house. We will find an adoption attorney. We will start making flight plans, hotel arrangements, tell our family and friends AND we will wrap our hearts around the fact that when God knows your ready...NOTHING STOPS HIM. So of course it was a YES. (now this is the shortened version of all the prelim calls back and forth but I think you get the big picture, things were moving fast).

I failed to mention that I was scheduled for "women" surgery November 4th, but not to worry we would still have two weeks to get ready right!

November 4th Scott, family and I all stood in the hospital chatting before my surgery and how I had better take good care of myself because we had a baby coming in two weeks and I needed to be rested and healed enough to travel. I went into surgery and the next thing I remember was Scott telling I was fine and I would heal nicely. He kissed my forehead and headed home to feed "the girls" and get a good night sleep.

Somewhere through the fog of anesthesia I remember answering the phone..."baby, her water broke".

November 5th at 7:33am TUCKER CHARLES was born. Two weeks early and ready to meet the world. Scott was on flights with O'Mimi trying to get to him. I was in a hospital room getting play by play cell phone calls (I barely remember thanks to the drugs). Tucker is Here! Tucker weights 6 lbs 9 oz and is beautiful. Tucker is 20.5 inches and is very healthy. Scott taking a picture with his cell and sending it so that I was the 2nd person to see him before O'Mimi even would enter the nursery.

Wednesday, November 5th our entire lives would change. Even now after spending the last two weeks flying back and forth from West Virginia (against docs wishes) and living in a hotel and eating primarily Subway, we are still so happy and blessed to have this little man in our lives.

Welcome to the world Tucker Charles Hillard...and oh what a world it is.
